Gemstones can help you manifest your New Year’s resolutions

Make 2012 a year you create with intention.
As we enter the new year, set aside some time to think about what you really want to bring into this brand new year. Be as specific as possible and don’t limit yourself. You are planting your seeds in the fertile ground of intention. I use a Hematite to help me stay grounded and focused when doing this exercise. Whenever I find myself going back to old habits, Hematite always brings me back to my intention, like an old friend, reminding me of my true desires. Ground and focus with Hematite and watch your intentions turn into manifestations!

`To bring more Abundance into your life, choose Citrine . Citrine is known as the stone of abundance.

Moldavite- ” The Stone That Fell From The Sky”

Of all the different gemstones I have worked with over the past 20 years, Moldavite is the one that has shown me the most dramatic responses from those who hold it. I have witness many first time encounters with Moldavite. What I have noticed when someone is new to the energies of Moldavite is a strong reaction to the stone. Sometimes to the point of the person throwing the stone down as if they can no longer be near its vibration. Sometimes the opposite happens and a person can not let go of the stone because it feels so good, so familiar. Rarely is there no response from Moldavite. One of the more common responses from someone who holds Moldavite for the first time is the experience of warmth or heat, usually felt in the hand then felt throughout the body like a wave. I have seen people become lightheaded and even dizzy while holding Moldavite. Some people have to accustom themselves to the energies of Moldavite, gradually wearing the gemstone, to come to fully appreciate its energy. Moldavite is truly a high vibrational stone.

Moldavite is a tektite found in the Czech Republic. Its often called “the stone that fell from the sky”. There are three theories of how it was formed. One theory suggests that Moldavite is made from an earthly rock melted by the heat of a meteorite crash. Another theory suggests that Moldavite is from extraterrestrial origin, like obsidian ejected by a lunar volcano. A third theory suggests that Moldative is a fusion of meteorite material and rock from the earth that was vaporized in tremendous heat from the impact of the meteor. The heat of the explosion resulted in gas being propelled high into the atmosphere. This gas would have cooled and condensed into a liquid glass, resulting in Moldavite. Regardless of which theory is correct, the fact is that Moldavite was created from tremendous power and did fall from the sky. Moldavite is one of the few tektites that is of gem quality and able to be cut and faceted into beautiful jewelry. To see more Moldavite Jewelry, click here to go to my web site.

Moldavite is a gemstone for transformation on all levels. It can be seen as a catalyst for shifts in one’s life, physical, emotional, or spiritual. It can open and activate all the chakras allowing for powerful activations. It has strong relationship to the heart Chakra. Moldavite is a stone that can help move you forward on your spiritual path to awakening. It can assist one to fully awaken to their highest destiny. Moldavite is a powerful tool for meditation and dreamwork.

If you stuck in a rut, can’t make the changes you know are good for you, or just aren’t sure whats next, Moldavite can assist in moving you into the next highest place. Its a powerful allay for these changing times.

Time to renew your spiritual practice

The beginning of a new year is a perfect time to re-commit to your spiritual practice. For me that is Yoga and Meditation. I find it very helpful to use the OM symbol to remind me that I am renewing my connection to “the practice”
The ancient symbol OM holds an important significance for me and helps me acknowledge my practice. By wearing OM jewelry and OM pendants, I am reminded to stay in the present moment. I remember to connect to my breath. Wearing OM jewelry allows me to stop and reflect throughout the day. As I see the OM pendant around my neck, I pause, take in a deep breath and connect to the NOW. I use my OM necklaces as tools to support my inner spiritual practice.

I enjoy making jewelry with the sacred OM symbol, combining OM pendants with healing gemstones that also assist to inspire a Yoga or Meditation practice. I am always on the look out for unique and unusual OM pendants to add to my Yoga jewelry line. Creating these Yoga inspired jewelry pieces can be very meditative. My bead studio is a calming space, surrounded by natural objects, crystals, minerals, plants, flowers and many, many gemstone beads. Putting together OM pendants with gemstone beads is a pleasurable part of my daily work.

OM is a universal, sacred symbol and the most sacred syllable in Hinduism. It is considered to be the primal sound. According to tradition, ancient sages were able to hear the subtle vibrations produced by everything in the universe, and they identified OM as the most elemental sound of creation. In a quiet environment, you can hear the vibration of OM in the crashing of ocean waves, in the stillness of a forest, or in the rush of wind. For more information on the significance of the symbol OM you can go to this article.

OM is used by meditators as a mantra to assist in reaching higher states of awareness. Many mantras and prayers begin and end with the sound OM. Rest in the universal sound of OM.

Gemstones To Help You Set Intention For The New Year

In just a few days we will usher in a New Year. This is a powerful time to think about what we would like to see more of in 2011, and what we would like to leave behind in 2010. If our awareness is the water that feeds the furtile soil of our intention, take some time to set intention and watch it grow!

On New Years day take out some of your stones and sit with them. Just sit, breathe and reflect. See yourself anew, with a fresh start. Now bring your attention on what you would like to bring in for the New Year.

If you are having trouble focusing on what intentions you'd like to set for 2011, check to see if you have Hematite or any black stone in your collection. Stones like Hematite are grounding stones and they can help you to focus your thoughts and desires. When we are grounded we are able to focus our thoughts, desires, dreams and intentions. There is great power in our ability to create when we are focused.

If you have set yourself a New Year’s resolution, but begin to feel it slipping past you, maybe you need to be more grounded and focused on your resolution/intention. Using the gemstone Hematite will offer you this grounding energy. When we're not grounded we tend to be spacey, we can't concentrate or focus attention for very long. One thought after another swirls in our mind. This will prevent us from creating the very thing we are wanting. Holding a Hematite stone will help you find the mental clarity and focus you need to achieve your desires. While holding the stone, begin to think of what it is you are wanting, continue to feel the stone in your hand and visualize what your desired outcome will be. Stay with this for 5-10 minutes, always coming back to the stone in your hand when your mind begins to stray. I find it helpful to write down the intention, using as much description as I can, getting clearer and clearer in my desire while holding the hematite. Connect to the emotion of the desire

Let 2011 be the year you focus on self awareness and well being. While it’s nice to set intention on the outside world of needs and wants, its time to go deeper and look at our lifestyle choices. Are you choosing a healthy life? Focus on setting intentions that will offer you well being.

Here are some gemstones that can help bring specific intentions into your life.

If you'd like to bring a Meditation practice into your life, work with Amethyst

Make 2011 your year of Healing, choose a green stone like Aventurine

To bring more Abundance into your life, choose Citirne

Need help with your Exercise program, choose orange Carnelian. This gemstone can energize and stimulate you to get moving.

Is this the year to start that creative project? Choose a blue stone like Lapis or Sodalite, they open up expression and creativity.

For bringing in Love, choose Rose Quartz or any pink stone, to keep the heart open to love.

Connect to your Soul, inner guides and the Divine, choose the clear stones, like Quartz, Selenite, Apophyllite or Nirvana Quartz.

So whatever it is you’d like to bring into your life this New Year, there is a gemstone that can assist you in setting your intention. All things are possible.

Winter Solstice ritual with Crystals

I like to celebrate the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, with a simple Crystal ritual. Winter Solstice represents the dark but it also represents new beginnings and hope for the future.

I begin the ritual by reflecting on the year passing. I am reminded that we have come through the darkest part of the year and now the light will be returning, yeah to longer days. I will light a candle and as I light it I know that I am planting the seeds for the new year. What is it that I would like to welcome in to my life? What would I like to see manifest in the New Year? Hmmm, lots to ponder about there….for me, for those I care about, for the world in which I live, peace, love, harmony, joy and much abundance! AND gratitude for all that is already abundant in my life.

Once I've sat in meditation, focusing on the qualities I would like to bring in to my life for the upcoming year, I focus those thoughts into a Quartz Crystal. I find it helpful to hold the crystal close to my heart, generating a feeling within me of these qualities. When I feel complete in this, I give thanks to the crystal for carrying the vibration of all I am focusing on. I place the crystal in the ground, allowing it return back to the earth from where it came, knowing that it holds this  positive energy. I have a sacred space devoted to ceremony, ritual and meditation in my yard and this is where I bury the Crystal. As I place the stone into the earth, I know that I am planting the seeds for the coming year.

I invite you to connect to that place of knowing that all things are possible. In the moment of darkness, the light, as always, is born again.

I also find it helpful to read some inspiring words connected to this time of year. I'd like to share part of an email that was sent to me by Jade Wah'oo Grigori a Shaman from Arizona. You can visit his web site by going here: http://www.shamanic.net/index.php/home

"Considered to be the beginning of a new year, the ending of the old, the Winter Solstice is the time for the releasing of debts owed one, of grudges and hurt feelings, emotional wounds and petty grievances, and the release of attached entities. It is the time of opening to new direction, insights and blessings brought forth into the spaces and places that had previously been filled with those old attachments, now released. At the time of the Winter Solstice the days have descended into the depths of darkness. It is at this moment, however, that the Sun begins to return, and with it, the days begin to lengthen. As the days become longer more light radiates into the world. This natural rhythm of the dance of Earth and Sun is a trigger within our psyche. As all the things that have remained hidden in the darkness begin to be revealed in the greater light of day, so do all the things that we tend to hide in our own Inner Darkness begin to be brought forth into activity as the days lengthen, just as seeds left in the darkness beneath the soil begin to sprout and grow in response to the emerging light. Generations upon generations of experiencing this cycle of our own Soul's dynamic led the people of ancient cultures to utilize the very same patterns of nature to deal effectively with their burdens of pain and suffering, of anguish and trauma that had laid hidden within the Inner Darkness of their own Soul."

Take time to celebrate the Light returning. Plant seeds for the New Year.

Take A Moment To Meditate

I feel like one of Santa’s Elves, spending these December days in my work studio creating jewelry just as fast as I can. My web site http://www.spiralsoflight.com/ is booming with holiday orders.

I individually create each piece of jewelry, take its picture and post it on the web site. Then its on to processing the orders and shipping. Whew, it maybe time to hire some elves to help! I have a lot to be thankful for. With all this talk about the "bad"economy, I am especially thankful for all the orders I am getting. Sales are up this year!

As wonderful as this is, I can find myself stressing. I sometimes get the, "Too Much To Do Syndrome". So, today I stopped, took out my Meditation Necklace, sat down on my meditation cushion and meditated. This necklace was created to help calm the mind during meditation. All the stones used in this necklace can support meditation by helping the wearer to relax. These are some of my favorite stones for calming and centering, Lepidolite, Amethyst & Flourite.

Try this calming meditation to keep holiday stress at bay. Its from Yoga Journal, one of my favorite sources to revive my yoga and meditation practice.

I believe that at stressful times in our lives, we especially need things around us that have meaning. Things that can help us deepen our spiritual practices and remind us of our true purpose.

Holding the energy of different gemstones is part of that reminder for me. Taking a moment out of my busy day to quiet my mind long enough to feel a stone’s vibrations, to tune in, refreshes me, even if its for just a few moments. My mind settles and the stresses of getting an order shipped melts away, replaced with the joy of the season once again. Its not long before I am singing my favorite Christmas carol and creating once again.

Wishing you much joy and happiness during this holiday season.

Tips For A Relaxing Holiday Season Using Crystals & Gemstones

During the holidays it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the parties, shopping and busy activities of the season. This year the best gift you can give your friends and loved ones is a healthy, relaxed YOU! If you truly want to enjoy this special time of year, give yourself some self nurturing.

Crystals and gemstones can help you stay calm, centered and focused during this stressful time of year.
Here are some ways to use Crystals & Gemstones to help you stay in the holiday spirit of love, joy and happiness.

1. Stay focused. We lose so much of our energy when we aren’t clear and focused on the project at hand. Instead of multi-tasking, give yourself the joy of focused attention. If you are having trouble staying focused, try using a Hematite or wear a Hematite necklace or bracelet.
Hematite is know as a grounding stone. Its also a stone to calm the mind. It can help us to sort things out and calm the racing mind. It helps with memory retention and is useful while writing. It also assists in dissolving negativity as it can transform the negative to a more pure state of love.
So, when you notice your mind racing around, reach for a Hematite and feel yourself grounded and focused.

2. Ask for help. Sometimes just simply letting others know you need assistance in all the preparations can relieve the pressure and feelings of doing too much. If you are having trouble speaking up and asking for help, reach for a blue gemstone like Sodalite. Sodalite can help you gently and calmly speak “your truth“, that is to come from you heart and express your needs to others, before frustration grabs a hold of you. No need to hit your melting point, speak up!

3. Rest. Make sure you are getting the correct amount of sleep that your body needs. It’s easy to fall into erratic sleeping patterns with parties, travel, preparation, and other seasonal events. If you find it difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep try sleeping with the gemstone Petalite. Petalite can take us to a dimension of rest and healing, to a space in which worries and concerns of this world are released.

4. Remember to Breath. When you catch yourself holding your breath in stressful situations, remember to take a few deep breaths. Breath in clean fresh air to rejuvenate yourself, and exhale out stress. In stressful situations we have a tendency to breathe shallow. This can increase anxiety in our mind and body.

Choose a Quartz Crystal as a reminder to breath throughout the day. Place it in your pocket, purse, near your desk, in the kitchen, wherever you will be. Every time you look at the crystal, stop and take a few deep breaths. Remember to take it with you where ever you go throughout your day. If you can, place several crystals in all the rooms of your house, car and office. Just breathe!

5. Nurture yourself. Remember to take care of yourself with relaxing music, a evening bath, some quiet time. Use a Rose Quartz as a reminder to love and nurture yourself. Rose Quartz is known as the “Stone of Love”. Before we can love another, we must first learn to love ourselves. Before we can give to others we must first take care of ourselves.

6. Stay cool, calm and collected with Fluorite. Fluorite is my all time favorite stone for staying centered in stressful situations. It has a cooling energy that helps us maintain our calm. Reach for the cooling vibrations of Fluorite when you know you will be in situations that will challenge you.

7. Meditate. It’s a known fact that meditation can help reduce stress, lower our heart rate and create peace within us. Choose a purple Amethyst to assist you in meditation. Amethyst is known as a stone of Spirituality and helps us to sit in meditation. Give yourself the gift of meditation this holiday season and bring peace into your heart, mind and spirit.

May your holiday season be filled with fun, laughter, joy and RELAXATION!
